{"id":41714,"date":"2015-11-16T11:36:55","date_gmt":"2015-11-16T16:36:55","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/technology.umw.edu\/helpdesk\/?post_type=advisory&#038;p=41714"},"modified":"2015-11-16T11:36:55","modified_gmt":"2015-11-16T16:36:55","slug":"new-wireless-login-system","status":"publish","type":"advisory","link":"https:\/\/technology.umw.edu\/helpdesk\/advisory\/new-wireless-login-system\/","title":{"rendered":"New Wireless Login System"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><strong>IT Support Services \u2013 Notice of UMW Wireless Network Changes<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>What is happening?<\/strong><br \/>\nBeginning on Monday, November 16th at 7:00 AM, the wireless networks known as \u201cUMW\u201d and \u201cUMW Guest\u201d will require a new login process.\u00a0 Due to a failure of the old wireless login system, users have not been required to login to utilize \u201cUMW\u201d and \u201cUMW Guest\u201d wireless for the past several weeks.\u00a0 On Monday, users will once again be required to login to access \u201cUMW\u201d and the \u201cUMW Guest\u201d utilizing a new login system.\u00a0 IT staff is still working to setup \u201cUMW Secured\u201d wireless, so it WILL NOT be available for several more weeks.<\/p>\n<p><strong>What is the plan? \u00a0<\/strong><br \/>\nStarting at 7 AM on 11\/16, \u201cUMW\u201d and \u201cUMW Guest\u201d wireless will be taken offline.\u00a0 At 7:15 AM, the wireless networks will come back online utilizing the new login system.\u00a0 This new login will be required for all mobile devices accessing the wireless network.<\/p>\n<p><strong>What do I need to do to connect? \u00a0<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><strong>\u201cUMW\u201d Wireless\u201d<\/strong>\u00a0 ALL UMW USERS WITH UMW ACCOUNTS SHOULD USE THE \u201cUMW\u201d WIRELESS NETWORK.\u00a0 The \u201cUMW\u201d wireless network is configured to allow access to university resources, including Library resources and connections to UMW systems that the \u201cUMW Guest\u201d network will not permit.\u00a0 Simply enter your NetID and Password, click the box to accept the terms of service, and click the \u201cLogin\u201d button to access this wireless network.\u00a0 Once you are logged in to \u201cUMW,\u201d users have access for 7 days before being required to login again.<\/li>\n<li><strong>\u201cUMW Guest\u201d<\/strong>\u00a0 This network is provided for university guests.\u00a0 It allows access to the internet only.\u00a0 Users are required to create a guest login, or as an convenience, utilize a user\u2019s current Google or Facebook credentials to login.\u00a0 Once logged in to \u201cUMW Guest,\u201d users have access for 24 hours before being required to login again.<\/li>\n<li><strong>&#8220;UMW Secured&#8221;<\/strong>\u00a0 This network is not yet available.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>How do I get assistance?<\/strong><br \/>\nIf you experience any issues with this process, the Help Desk will open early on Monday beginning at 7 AM.\u00a0 Please contact us at 540-654-2255, helpdesk@umw.edu,\u00a0 or bring your mobile device to the Help Desk in Hurley Convergence Center room 112.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>IT Support Services \u2013 Notice of UMW Wireless Network Changes What is happening?
