Information Technologies has purchased a product from Dell called KACE. KACE provides tools to IT Support Services to better manage our computing environment. It will allow us to be more proactive in our maintenance of the computing environment and increase overall support for our users. Once fully implemented, KACE will provide us with enhanced capabilities for desktop support, software distribution and upgrades, security patching, and much more.
How will KACE help you?
KACE will allow us to more rapidly provide support for a variety of issues. For example, if you need licensed software installed or upgraded for an upcoming class or project you’re working on, the Help Desk will be able to push that software to university owned computers without a desktop technician having to physically install it on each machine. It also affords us the ability to quickly add software or make changes to classroom or lab machines. This saves valuable time for everyone involved.
Additionally, KACE will help us keep your software up-to-date and secure, provide increased support capabilities, and better manage our inventory to ensure accurate replacement of the oldest computers in our environment.
What you need to know:
We have rolled our KACE to lab and classroom computers and are in the process of rolling out the tool via the network to all computers in the environment. Users with questions should contact Jerry Slezak at email@example.com.
