2012 Faculty/Staff Computer Refresh
This summer Information Technologies will be replacing over 160 computers. These are computers that were identified as primary machines for faculty/staff and are being refreshed based on age and funding availability. IT Support Services will be working with department supervisors regarding scheduling of installation.
A list of users receiving a new computer and information on their new computer is available on SharePoint (UMW NetID and password required). If users have the computers listed, they will be receiving a new computer. Please note that a computer upgrade does not include software beyond our standard install or peripherals for a laptop, i.e. dock, monitor, ext keyboard/mouse, bag.
Replacement Schedule:
- May/June 2012: (1st Summer semester) Refresh computers shipped in 2005
- June/July 2012: (2nd Summer semester) Refresh computers shipped in 2006
- August – October 2012: Replace computers shipped in 2007
Moving forward, IT will be providing a list of all users primary machines and where it falls on the replacement cycle. This is part of an ongoing effort to improve our inventory and better serve end-users. More information about this is available on our KACE project site. The replacement cycle for computers is contingent on the availability of funds.
If you have any questions about this replacement cycle please contact Charity Hooper (chooper@umw.edu) in the IT Business Office or Edward Gray (egray@umw.edu) in IT Support Services.
