PST refers to the format and extension (.pst) assigned to a Personal Storage Table, also referred to as a Personal Folder File. The PST format is useful for storing data that is downloaded from Outlook and other Microsoft applications. Noted below are instructions for importing Outlook contacts that were stored previously within a PST file.
- Click File, then select Import and Export.

- The Import and Export Wizard window will display. Select Import from another program or file, then click Next.

- From the Import a File window, select Personal Folder File, then click Next.

- Browse to the location where the PST file was saved previously. Click the option to indicate the desired action regarding duplicate items, then click Next.

- When prompted, select the Contacts folder. Click the box, Include sub folders. Click Import items into the same folder in your mailbox, then click Finish.

The Contacts previously stored to a personal folder file will be inserted into your Outlook Contacts folder.
