Work with Multiple Documents

You can have multiple documents open at the same time; the number of documents that can be open at one time depends on the RAM that is installed on your computer.

To open multiple documents:

  1. Select Open from the Office Button.
  2. Navigate to the location where the file is saved.
  3. Choose the appropriate file.
  4. Click on Open.
  5. Repeat for each document that you wish to open.

To move between multiple documents:

Each time a document is opened, the task bar at the bottom of your screen reflects a new task icon. You can navigate between documents by clicking on the button that represents that document, located on the task bar.

 

Word Extras

You can also move between multiple documents using the Ribbon.

  1. Go to the View Tab.
  2. Select Switch Windows.
  3. Choose the document that you want to work with. The ‘current’ or ‘active’ document has a next to it.

It is possible to open multiple documents at the same time.

  1. Go to the Office Button.
  2. Choose Open.
  3. Navigate to the location where the files that you wish to open are saved.
  4. Hold the CTRL key and click on the desired files to select multiple files that are not adjacent to each other in the list of files. Hold the Shift key and click on the first and last files to select files that are adjacent to each other.
  5. Click on open.
