Set Program Options

In earlier lessons, we discussed adding transitions and animation to your slides. There are some more options contained in this lesson for making your presentation the best it can be.

To set program options for your presentation:

  1. Click on Set Up Slide Show icon on the Slide Show Tab in the Setup Show Group.
  2. The Setup Show dialog box will appear.
  3. Make your selections.
    • Turn off animations.
    • Setup to show at a kiosk.
    • Decide if you want to advance your slides manually by clicking or if they will advance automatically after a time you set.

  4. Click OK.

 

To practice your presentation:

  1. Click on the Rehearse Timings icon in the Setup Group.
    • A full screen view of your presentation will begin with the first slide. A clock will record the time you spend on each slide and you will have the option to save those timings to run the show automatically in the future.

  2. Click Yes to keep timings. Click No to discard timings.
  3. To prerecord narration for a presentation:
    Click
    on Record Narration on the Slide Show Tab in the Setup Show Group.
  4. The Record Narration dialog box will appear. Note: You must have a microphone installed on your computer.
  5. If you are not sure if you have a microphone or if you need to make adjustments to your microphone, click on Set Microphone Level. The Check Microphone dialog box will appear.
  6. Click OK in the Record Narration dialog box to begin recording.
  7. Press the ESC key when you have finished recording.

Powerpoint 2007 extras

Use the Notes View to write out what you want to say with each slide. On the View Tab, in the Presentation Views Group click on the Notes Pages icon . The slide will appear above an area provided for you to type notes. You can then print the presentation in the Notes View for yourself and have your presentation notes right with the slide they represent.
