Freeze Panes
Freezing panes on a worksheet is useful when a spreadsheet is extremely large. This option will permit one or more rows and columns to stay visible while scrolling through a large spreadsheet. The most common actions for this function are:
To freeze a horizontal pane:
- Select the row directly beneath the section to remain visible.
- On the View tab, in the Window group, click Freeze Panes, and then click the option that you want.
- Select Freeze Panes.
To freeze a vertical pane:
- Select the column immediately to the right of the section to remain visible.
- On the View tab, in the Window group, click Freeze Panes, and then click the option that you want.
- Select Freeze Panes.
To freeze both a horizontal and vertical pane:
- Select the cell beneath and to the right of the section to remain visible.
- On the View tab, in the Window group, click Freeze Panes, and then click the option that you want.
- Select Freeze Panes.
To remove frozen panes:
- On the View tab, in the Window group, click Freeze Panes, and then click the option that you want.
- Select Unfreeze Panes.
