When you start typing a recipient’s name or e-mail address in the To, Cc, or Bcc field of an e-mail message, Entourage automatically suggests addresses from your address book and of people whom you have recently corresponded with.
If Entourage does not suggest the address that you want, you can use search tools to locate the address within your Entourage items or from directory services. A search within Entourage does not look for addresses on a directory service.
Do any of the following:
Search for an e-mail address within Entourage.
Since e-mail addresses might be contained in messages, contacts, or other items, you can do a broad search across all the items that you have saved in Entourage.
- On the toolbar, enter your search word or words in the search box
.After several seconds, results display under the Search bar. - In the Search Results bar, click Everything.
Note: To learn more about searching, see Search for items in Entourage.
Search for an e-mail address on a directory service.
After setting up a directory service in Entourage, use the QuickFilter to find an e-mail address on the directory service.
- Click Address Book.

If you do not see the folder list, on the View menu, click Folder List. - In the folder list, under Directory Services, click the directory service that you want to use.
- On the filter pop-up menu, click the type of search filter that you want to use, such as Name starts with.
- In the box on the right, type a name or part of a name.
- In the list of search results, double-click an entry to view more information about it.
