There are two types of CDs that you can burn files to. CD-R’s and CD-RW’s. The major difference between the two is that CD-R’s can only be written to ONCE; after that the files on them cannot be edited, added to, or removed. A CD-RW, on the other hand, can written to multiple times (Files can be edited, added, removed).
- To burn files to a CD using Windows 7, first insert the CD into your computer’s CD drive. (At this point a dialog box may come up asking what you would like to do with the CD, you can close that and follow these steps) Now you want click on the Start Menu Button on the bottom right side of your screen, then click Computer.

- On the window that comes up you want to Double-Click your cd that you just inserted from the list under Devices with Removable Storage.

- Once you have double clicked the CD you will get a Burn A Disc window. First (1) you will want to enter a title for your CD. Next you want to select the type of CD you would like to burn. If you are using a CD-RW you will want to select Like a USB flash drive (2) option. If you are using a CD-R you will want to select the other option, With a CD/DVD player. After filling in the title for your CD and which type of cd you would like, click Next (3).

- The next window will be a place for you to drag your files to your CD. You can select files from anywhere on your computer and drag them into this window.

- Once you have all the files you want on your CD. You will want to click the Burn button in the top portion of the CD’s window. **NOTE** Be sure that you have double checked all of the files on your CD, make sure you have all the files you want in the list, and none that you do not want; Once a CD-R has been burned you will not be able to edit what is on the CD.
