There are several ways to insert an object into the My Banner list:
- Insert selected objects from the Banner Object list
- Type the name of the object into the My Banner list
- Use the Object Search form (GUIOBJS)
- Select objects From The Left Side
Select objects from the Banner Object list
In order to insert an object from the Banner Object list into the My Banner list, it must first be selected. To do this, double-click on either the object name or its description. The object’s text will convert to blue, indicating that it is selected. To deselect an object, double-click it again. The text will revert to black, indicating that it is not selected.
You may select more than one object at a time from one or from several Banner object type lists. When the insert is executed, all selected objects from all type lists will be inserted into the My Banner list.
You can choose where you would like the selected Banner objects to be inserted in several ways. If an object is selected in the My Banner list (right pane) all of the selected Banner objects (from the left pane) will be inserted below it. So if your My Banner list already contains objects, decide where you would like to insert the new objects by choosing from the My Banner list.
You could insert a new record below a selected object in the My Banner list by clicking the Insert Record icon ( ) in the Tool bar. A new blank record will appear and the new object will be inserted into it. You could also simply choose the first blank record in the My Banner list and insert your selected Banner object there.
If there are twenty or fewer objects in the Banner Object list, you may insert all of them without having to select each one individually, by clicking the Insert All button ( ). They will then appear in the My Banner list.
Type the name of the object into the My Banner list
If you know the name of the object that you want to insert into My Banner, simply click an empty object field and type the name of the object. Recall that Forms, reports and jobs usually have a seven-character name (a few have eight characters), menu names begin with a *, and QuickFlow names vary in length.
If you would like to insert this object somewhere other than at the end of the list, click on an existing object and insert a new Record by clicking the Insert Record icon ( ). A blank record will be added — enter the object name in the object field.
After entering the object name use the <Next Field/Item> function or press the ENTER key. If the description appears, the name was recognized and the item is added to your list.
Use the Object Search form (GUIOBJS)
If the entire name of the object that you want to insert is not known, you can perform a search for that object.
In the My Banner list, click in the blank name or the description field. Use the <List> (Don’t know what this command is) function to display the Object Search form (GUIOBJS). You can then execute a query, using known characters from the object name, description or type, combined with the % and _ wildcards. See the Object Search section on page XXX for more details.
To Get These Results Enter This All entries that contain ma %ma% All entries that begin with ma ma% All entries that end with ma %ma All entries that have m as second character _m%
When you find the object you want, you can insert it into your menu in several ways. Click on it or use <Next Record> to move your cursor to it. Then <Exit with Value> or <Count Query Hits>. Or double-click on the object name.
