VPN for Windows

A virtual private network (VPN) connection is a connection between your off-campus computer and the University network to provide you with secure access to the University’s resources (Banner, the shared drive, and other).  UMW uses the Cisco AnyConnect VPN Client to provide this access.  To install this client:

1. Go to https://vpn1.umw.edu. NOTE: This only works if you are off-campus.
2. Sign in enter your UMW NetID and Active Directory password.
3. The AnyConnect VPN Client will attempt to install and connect automatically.

If the installation fails, select download and install it manually:

1. You will need to enter your UMW NetID and Active Directory password and click OK.
   
2. The AnyConnect installer will start automatically.
   
   
3. The VPN client will launch and connect automatically.
   
4. Once the connection is established the webpage  can be closed and the VPN connection controlled from the installed client.
