Cisco Clean Access is a program that allows the UMW servers to inspect your computer to make sure you have the latest Windows Updates, an AntiVirus program, and current virus definitions installed. Your computer is checked only for the latest updates, for virus software, and for updated virus definitions. We do not “spy” on your computing habits. The software is installed automatically when you connect to the network via a wireless connection.
Clean Access for Windows Users
There are several options for accomplishing the installation, and avoiding an interruption in your ability to log in to the new Clean Access servers.
- Log in to your laptop using an account that has local Administrator privileges, and install the new Clean Access Agent software. When you log in to Clean Access for the first time, the new software installation will begin automatically, and you will be prompted with instructions.
- If you do not know your local Administrator credentials, or are uncomfortable installing the software on your own, you may:
- Come to the Help Desk in the basement of George Washington Hall, Monday through Thursday from 8:00AM to 8:00PM or Friday from 8:00AM to 5:00PM, and IT personnel will install the new Clean Access Agent software for you.
- Contact the Help Desk, helpdesk@umw.edu or (540) 654-2255, and the Help Desk will dispatch a technician, as one becomes available, to install the new software on your laptop.
